Legal
Privacy policy
Last updated: July 2026.
This policy explains how personal data is collected, used and protected when you visit chariton.me or get in touch through the contact form. I respect your privacy and collect only the data that is strictly necessary.
Data controller
Dimitris Chariton, Ptolemaida, Greece. For anything regarding your data, use the contact form.
What data is collected
Data you submit: when you fill in the contact form, your full name, email address, the reason for contact and the text of your message are collected. You don’t need to provide more than you wish.
Technical data: to run and secure the site, the infrastructure providers process limited technical information (e.g. IP address at server level). Traffic statistics are kept strictly in aggregated, anonymous form (see “Cookies and traffic analysis”).
Purpose and legal basis
The form data is used solely to reply to your message and to contact you regarding your request; the legal basis is your consent, which you provide by submitting the form (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Anonymous statistics are kept on the basis of the legitimate interest in improving the site (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Recipients of the data
I do not sell or pass your data to third parties for advertising. To run the site I use trusted providers acting as data processors: Netlify (site hosting and form handling) and Cloudflare (anonymous statistics). Form messages are forwarded to my email.
Transfers outside the EU
These providers may process data on servers outside the European Union (e.g. in the USA). In such cases the transfer is governed by the appropriate safeguards provided by the GDPR (such as Standard Contractual Clauses).
Retention period
Messages are kept for as long as necessary to handle your request and our correspondence, and are deleted once there is no longer a reason to retain them.
Cookies and traffic analysis
The site uses no tracking cookies and no advertising cookies. For traffic statistics it uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly service: it works without cookies, collects no personal data and builds no profiles, does not track individual visitors across other sites, and the data is strictly aggregated and anonymous (e.g. number of visits, pages, country/device at a general level). For this reason no consent banner is required. The site also stores some functional preferences locally in your browser (light/dark mode and language); these stay on your device, are not personal data and are not shared.
Security
The site is served exclusively over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and reasonable technical and organisational measures are taken to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage, however, is completely secure.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, as well as the right to object and to withdraw your consent at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal). To exercise any right, contact me through the contact form. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).
Minors
The site is aimed at a professional audience and is not intended for minors; I do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Automated decision-making
No automated decisions are made and no profiling is carried out based on your data.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy. Any change will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
